Acupuncture for All Pets Including

Dogs, Cats, Exotics & Horses!

Acupuncture is a medical therapy that has been used in both humans and animals for over 3,000 years. It is a beneficial treatment in combination with current Western medicine.Acupuncture helps the body maintain balance between the involuntary “fight or flight” and “rest and digest” processes.

The practice of acupuncture involves inserting very thin, sterile, stainless steel needles into the skin at precise locations and depths. These precise locations, called acupoints, are determined by the anatomical convergence of blood vessels, connective tissue, muscles, and bones with nerves throughout the body.Acupuncture modulates the body’s biochemical and physiological function through stimulating the central nervous system.

Medical conditions that may respond to acupuncture include arthritis/degenerative joint disease, hip and elbow dysplasia, hot spots, diarrhea, vomiting, anorexia, constipation, nerve injury, asthma, dry eye, seizures and intervertebral disc disease.Acupuncture is also very effective in decreasing side effects from chemotherapy in cancer patients.

Acupuncture is a very safe medical treatment when properly performed by a certified acupuncturist.Side effects are rare but may include soft stool, runny eyes or runny nose, and initial sleepiness.

Most animal patients enjoy their acupuncture treatments. Some may react with a twitch if a point is sensitive.Once the needles are in place, many patients become very relaxed, and may even fall asleep. Each treatment is followed up with a gentle massage too!
